The role and responsibilities of the Qatar Tourism Authority reflect the government’s commitment to the promotion of the tourism and business sectors as pillars of its strategy to bolster economic and social growth.
QTA has developed a comprehensive strategy for the tourism industry, including tourism marketing as well as product development and quality control through licensing and classification. Its mission is to promote Qatar on the regional and global level as an attractive travel destination and a hub for cultural, sports and educational tourism.
QTA’s promotional initiatives and those related to the business sector include participation in events and exhibitions, incentive programs, conferences and major worldwide events, in addition to organizing presentations, workshops and guided tours as well as coordinating educational visits.
Citizens of 80 countries were also allowed entry into the country by providing tourist visas at border points.
As part of its efforts to support tourism activities, and in order to consolidate its leading position in international markets, QTA has established representative offices covering most of the world’s continents.
